El ECO Pavillion
Experimental Museum El Eco, Mexico City
Competition by invitation. Collaborators: Tomás Clara, Manuel Tojal

Our intervention for el ECO, albeit temporary, was little more than a challenge. The competition brief was to design a space for discussion, concerts... basically a flexible space which would allow different configurations. On first reflection, we decided on three stipulations: to maintain the original structure and therefore create something free standing, to ensure that the space was covered given the changeable climatic conditions of Mexico City, and to create a dialogue with the environment without imposing on it.

The pavilion would be a cylinder, with a free floor, placed in the centre of the courtyard. A system based on a very simple technology and of low cost. A set of prefabricated doors that open and close, doors that can become mirrors to echo the environment and create glimpses of reflections, generating an infinite number of visual configurations.
