The project for Botta’s apartment aims to operate within the typical Barcelona’s Eixample front and back apartment layout. The intervention opens up both ends by creating big broad spaces at the two extremities that minimizes the impact of the corridor. Two bedrooms, a studio and a large playing room are related to a typical block courtyard, taking advantage of light and silence; in the other edge of the apartment, and facing Sardenya Street, a big linear open kitchen is merged with the dinning room, and all together, linked to the big living room. The simplification of the layout by enlarging the main spaces has optimized the use and the distribution of the apartment.
