Located
in 59th street, in mid town Manhattan, this urban spa was fully renovated,
addressing technical and special renovation. The idea was to create
an urban oasis, a place to relax and meditate within the congested city;
a paradise to escape for a few hours.
The
renovation of this spa proposed a redistribution of its treatment units,
generating islands of soft material within the overall continuous space.
By separating the public circulation from the private, and clearly identifying
the units, the public space was organized to give perception of amplitude;
moreover, the use of mirrors and transparencies provided light inside
the units, while creating playful relations of transparency and reflections. |
